Task force reviews education priorities

The Berkshire County Education Task Force has distilled 10 county education priorities from their two-weeks-worth of outreach and surveying.

Ensuring access to high quality education “regardless of background, equity, quality teachers” ranks first on the list. According to documents provided by the task force, that priority was mentioned 96 times over the course of eight meetings, 45 surveys and three student focus groups.

Increasing arts, electives and extracurricular offerings – including foreign languages – came in second with 76 mentions.

Providing better vocational and technical training, which also means increasing access, came in third. It was mentioned 68 times.
