ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID FOR THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORIC PRESERVATION  CUPOLA RESTORATION
Sealed bids for The First Baptist Church Historic Preservation  Cupola Restoration will be received by Mr. Daniel Sowle at the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, 88 South Street, Pittsfield, MA until 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at which time they will be privately opened. Bids shall be made as described herein, and in accordance with the Bidding Documents, Technical Specifications and Drawings prepared by Hill-Engineers, Architects, Planners, Inc., Dalton, MA.

To coordinate a site visit, contact the church project manager, Mr. Daniel Sowle at dansowle75@gmail.com, or by calling the church office (413) 445-4539 to contact the church project manager. There will not be any site visits scheduled after Wednesday, February 8, 2017. One (1) hard-copy of bid documents (Bidding Documents, Technical Specifications and Drawings) will only be provided to attendees that coordinate with the church project manager. The First Baptist Church, circa 1930, is in the Park Square Historic District which is on the Massachusetts Register of Historical Places. Specifications and drawings comply with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historical Properties. Bids will be evaluated on the basis of price, qualifications, previous experience with equivalent types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner and references.

This project is partially funded through the Massachusetts Historical Commission, Massachusetts Preservation Projects fund.

TREE WARDEN
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws (MGL), Chapter 87, Public Shade Tree Law, Section 3 (Cutting of Public Shade Trees; Hearing; Damages), the Town of Great Barrington Tree Warden will hold a Public Hearing regarding an application from National Grid to remove or prune public shade trees on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Great Barrington Town Hall, 334 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230. Any person interested or wishing to be heard on this matter should appear at the time and place designated.

The program included a tree-by-tree hazard assessment of public and private trees, along the main three-phase lines which serve the community. The work is recommended to remove hazard trees and prune for additional clearance in order to reduce tree outage problems affecting large numbers of customers served by these main lines. National Grid’s arborists have identified one hundred twenty six (126) town trees for removal along town roads. Town trees designated for removal have been posted with a notice of public hearing in the field.

The roads with town trees affected by the program are: Division Street, Park Street, Old Stockbridge Road, State Road and Lake Buel Road.

A complete list of town trees designated for removal or pruning including information about the location, size and species of the affected trees and the reason for work proposed, is available weekdays from the Town Hall, Library and Highway Department during normal business hours.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

PROJECT: East Street Culvert Repair
LOCATION: East Street, Mount Washington, MA
PROPONENT: Town of Mount Washington
The undersigned is submitting an Environmental Notification Form (“ENF”) to the Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs on or before: January 31, 2017
This will initiate review of the above project pursuant to the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (“MEPA”, M.G.L. c. 30, s.s. 61-62I). Copies of the ENF may be obtained from:
Emily Stockman, Stockman Associates LLC, 29 Park Street PO Box 9, Adams, MA 01220, 413-743-1372.
Copies of the ENF are also being sent to the Conservation Commission and Planning Board of Mount Washington where they may be inspected.
The Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs will publish notice of the ENF in the
Environmental Monitor, will receive public comments on the project for 20 days, and will then decide, within ten days, if an environmental Impact Report is needed. A site visit and consultation session on the project may also be scheduled. All persons wishing to comment on the project, or to be notified of a site visit or consultation session, should write to the Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs, 100 Cambridge St., Suite 900, Boston, Massachusetts 02114, Attention: MEPA Office, referencing the above project.

FY2018 Wastewater Sludge Removal

The Town of Great Barrington invites sealed bids from contractors to remove and dispose of sludge from the Town’s wastewater treatment plant for FY 2018 (July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018). Anticipated amount of sludge generated at the wastewater treatment plant will be between 2,000 and 2,400 wet tons. The percent of solids is expected to be between 18% and 28%. A bid proposal package which contains bid forms and other information may be obtained from the Office of the Town Manager, 334 Main Street Great Barrington, MA during the hours of 8:30am to 4:00pm beginning Friday January 27, 2017. Bid packages may also be obtained by emailing apulver@townofgb.org.
Sealed bids are due at the Office of the Town Manager by Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 2:00pm, at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. All bids submitted must be clearly labeled “FY 18 Wastewater Sludge Removal”The Town Manager is the awarding authority, and reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waiver minor informalities or irregularities in any bid and to make an award in any manner consistent with the law and deemed to be in the best interest to the Town of Great Barrington.
